Routine inspection conducted and following were observed:
- Handsink is available in staff area before entering production. Staff wear hair nets and gloves before entering production and storage area.
- Walk-in freezer for finished product at satisfactory temperature
- The ice production is fully automated within a closed system.
- Facility uses municipal water supply, the water supply is filtered using one micron filter before it is fed to the ice making system. UV system has been disconnected.
- Water sample is tested once a month and ice samples are tested twice a week at IG MicroMed Lab in Richmond.
- Pre and post shift cleaning and sanitation is conducted using Zepp (quat based sanitizer)
- Ice blocks are made by pressing the ice cubes
- Finished product is passed through metal detector
- Harvested ice is packaged and stored on pallets with finished plywood in between and no contact with unfinished pallets to prevent any contamination or damage from wood splinters
- Pest control program is implemented on site
- General sanitation is satisfactory
