Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

The following areas were reviewed for compliance:
· Physical facility
· Health and hygiene systems
· Children’s files – emergency contacts
· Staffing

COVID-19 prevention strategies were reviewed and discussed.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During an inspection of the bathroom, it was noted that two bottles of disinfectants were stored on a towel bar and a bottle of lysol was stored in an unlocked cabinet. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Comments

During this inspection, there were 5 children and the Licensee present. The above noted contravention was identified and corrected during the inspection. No further action is required by the Licensee. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following was discussed with the manager:
· Drop-off/pick-up procedures
· Sanitization procedures
· Handwashing
· Snack and lunch preparation
· Facility health & illness policy
· Implementing social distancing measures in the facility
· Gradual entry process during COVID-19

COVID-19 Infection Control Assessment was completed and a copy was given to the Licensee.

The following resources were provided to the manager:
· Fraser Health CCFL COVID-19 Prevention Resource Package

This inspection report was discussed with the Licensee and copy was emailed to the facility on Oct. 15, 2020.
