Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: During the routine inspection licensing observed that the fire drills from September 2023 to January 2024 were not available. Manager was not on site and the Programmer said that the fire drills were conducted but she does not know where the document with the noted drills was.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire drills are practiced, marked and the document is avaialble for licensing to review.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 22, 2024 there were 20 children 2 staff and 4 support staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
- Guiding young Children's Behaviour strategies was discussed with the staff on site
- Licensing reviewed the minor log book and noted an incident from December 20, 2023. The staff could not explain what has taken place in the noted incident. LO will connect with the licensee contact to gain more knowledge regarding the incident.
- Licensing noted that on January 15, 2024, the attendance sheet on the Ipad for the day did not save a few children's time of departure from the facility. Programmer staff said that the children have been signed out but that the Ipad erased the entry.
