At the inspection dated November 9, 2023, there were eight children, two staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer by November 23, 2023 stating how the identified contraventions will be addressed to ensure year-round compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following were discussed with the Manager:
Ensure attendance records clearly indicates the dates children are attending the daycare
Having an ongoing maintenance plan for the facility's interior. Licensing observed duct tape used on kitchen cupboards and on few sections of the interior walls and bathroom started to show signs of wear and tear.
All minor/unusual incidents communicated to the families must be also recorded in the minor incident log book.
Certificates or copy of certificates of any educator or assistant employed at the daycare must be prominently displayed in the facility. CCLR s.11(4)
When checking employee references, the Manager must contact the references and include a notation indicating the date the employee references were verified.
Use and installation of sleeping equipment (playpens) for children must adhere to the manufacturer's recommendations and guidelines. Health Canada Safe Sleep environment & Safe Sleep Practices Bulletin (Emailed to the Manager)
Validation of ECE certificates (Emailed to the Manager)
The inspection report was written off-site and details were reviewed with the Manager prior to writing the report. A copy of the follow up to routine inspection report and risk assessment is provided to the manager on November 10, 2023.
