Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSP).

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): DLSOP Safe Play Space – Licensee completes daily, monthly, and annual checks of the outdoor play space, however they had not been documented. This was corrected during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee will create a checklist and document the outdoor check on the sign in sheet, for daily, monthly and annual inspections of the outdoor play space as per the DOLSOP.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection 7 children, and the facility manger were joined by licensing.
At this inspection one contravention was identified and corrected during the inspection therefore no further action is required by the licensee in response to this inspection.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided.

The following was discussed:
Emergency evacuation food and water storage sufficient for 72 hours.
Practices for shared snacks were reviewed and discussed
