Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: A table top is propped against a wall in the back yard and roofing shingles are being stored on a section of the fence in the baby yard. CCFL is concerned these items may fall on a child. A freezer is in the nap room and the child proof lock has not been installed. The table top was moved during this inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a safe environment is provided at all times.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The bug screen on a door to the outdoor play area has a hole in it.
Corrective Action(s): Please make sure all areas of the facility are in good repair.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation: A file for a child who is related to the Licensee is not available.
Corrective Action(s): Please make sure a file for all children in care is available.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated August 28, 2019 there were 5 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
The licensee is required to send a written response to the licensing officer by September 6, 2019 stating how the contraventions noted on this inspection report have been addressed.
