Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During the inspection licensing observed:
-One electrical cable was unsecured against the wall in the nap room where a child was sleeping. This was corrected during inspection.
-One area of the fence had an 3 foot width where if pushed forward provided access to a dug up area on the other side. This provided entrapment opportunity for children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while the children are under the supervision of employees.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 2 children in care, the licensee and a family member present.
At this inspection the above contravention was identified and written response is required by the licensee.

The following was discussed:
Discussed the systems in place for cleaning and sanitizing.
Review of the planned replacement of the fences on one side of the house, and plans for when the work is completed.
