Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Neither hand sink in the approved food preparation areas (front smoothie making area and back food production area) had soap. This issue was noted on the previous inspection report. Staff said they use the washroom on site to wash hands. Had a telephone conversation with owner at time of inspection who sent the saff member on duty out to purchase hand soap at time of inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure each hand wash station in the food preparation areas are equipped with soap, paper towel, hot and cold running water at all times. The washroom hand sink is not a suitable replacement for the hand wash stations in the food preparation areas. This issue was noted in past reports. Future infractions of the same nature (ie. inadequate hand wash stations) will result in enforcement action (ie. issuance of correction orders, violation tickets and/or closure).

Comments

- Premises fruit desserts and fruit smoothies.
- No food preparation/handling was taking place at time of inspection.
- All coolers were at 4C or less (Walk in, prep cooler, upright one door retail, display cooler...etc)
- No foods stored in prep cooler in the front service area for smoothies. Telephone conversation with owner who said that fruit smoothies are not regularly made at this time. Fruit smoothies are made fresh per order when requested.
- All stored foods appeared protected (ie. off the ground, covered..etc)
- General sanitation satisfactory. No obvious sign of pest activity noted at time of inspection.
- Ice machine appeared clean with scoop for ice stored outside of the ice in a separate container.
- Bleach available on site. Ensure 100ppm chlorine sanitizer is made up and readily available at the front and back service areas when food handling/services are taking place.
- Manual ware washing procedures reviewed at time of inspection.
