PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: overall facility both indoors and out is well maintained , observed panelling on lower level of washroom wall peeling away which would make the area a challenge to thoroughly clean.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Door to the laundry room was unlatched , cleaners such as bleach and Mr. Clean stored on the floor in this area. It is noted that this was also identified during the 2015 routine inspection.A plastic garbage bag was located within a lower level drawer in the washroom used by the children. Discussed relocating cleaners to an upper level and anchoring a shelf within the areas should in order to ensure children do not have access to hazardous substances should latching the door not be completed. It is however observed that a good level of supervision was maintained during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure children do not have access to any substance or object which may be hazardous to their health or safety.The door was secured during the inspection and the bag removed

Observation: staff files reviewed 2 staff missing immunization status

CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: In review of the provided staffing schedule it was determined that a staff who holds the qualifications of an ECE Assistant works a scheduled shift independently. Reviewed the requirements of schedule E which includes that care to children is to be provided by an Educator. Section 37 applies in circumstances as listed such as vacation , unforeseen events and when the staff is expected to return to regular duties.Discussed process to make application for a staffing exemption as the manager included the staff continues to work towards ECE certification.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure staff are qualified to hold the position assigned , application for exemptions are available on the Fraser Health website. please confirm the staffing model which will be in effect in order to maintain compliance with schedule E

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 6 children's registration files were audited and found to be well organized and complete with exception to 2 files which were missing the name and contact information for a medical practitioner. It is acknowledged that families may not have access to a family doctor however therefore a walk in clinic would meet the intent of this required section of legislation.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure record supports the name and contact information for a medical practitioner.
