Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed a bottle of air freshner available in an unlocked cabinet under the sink in the bathroom labeled "keep out of reach of children". The air freshner was accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided to the children at all times while in care

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 6 children's files of which 2 were missing the medical insurance plan number.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure all children's files are complete and up to date
Date to be Corrected: October 20, 2023

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Licensing reviewed the attendance record and observed one child had not been signed out that day.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure attendance is recorded daily.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 6 children's files of which the following was missing:
- 2 were missing the name and phone number of a medical practitioner
- 2 were missing the name and phone number of an emergency contact.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's records are complete and up to date

Comments

At the inspection on October 03, 2023 there were 3 children and the manager present.
At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed off site and a copy will be provided.
