Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP).
Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:
Licensing
Physical Facility
Staffing
Policies and Procedures
Care and supervision/Hygiene and medication
Nutrition
Program
Child Records and reporting

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided to the facility.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SWAR-AHJNNE have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

The operation of the facility is in compliance with current regulations of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) apart from any listed above

On site today was the Licensee and 1 other staff member with 7 children in attendance.

Staff to child ratio was in compliance with regulations
Programming is posted and available for parent review and children's art work is displayed in the facility.
Licensing observed the children taking part in phonic activities and fine motor skills. Children were able to eat breakfast on arrival if required. Children had some free play followed by snack time which is provided by the Licensee. Parents are informed on a daily basis as to the healthy snacks provided.
Daily outdoor play occurs on site and age appropriate equipment is available for children's use.

Discussions with the Licensee/Staff:-
- Licensing reviewed staffing and future education plans of the Licensee and staff as well as rotation and location of emergency supplies.
- Licensing provided information regarding the requirement for care plans for annual review
- Licensing provided the immunization poster as a resource
Validation of certificates is in place.

Temporary placements are currently in place for 2 days per week for 2 children.
Licensing observed Staff engaged with children using appropriate language and guidance; observed transitions for children arriving with their parents and observed the interactions of the children in the group which were positive and respectful. Staff provide good role modeling during activities and meeting children's needs.

No concerns at todays inspection.
