Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulationand the applicable Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

During today's inspection the Licensing Officer was accompanied by a student from the Justice Institute of BC.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During today's inspection the Licensing Officer observed:
- a spray bottle containing a bleach solution within reach of the children and
- outdoors there are flowers from the morning glory plant which are poisonous and within the reach of children.

Corrective Action(s): The bottle containing the bleach solution was relocated to an area where children did not have any access. The flowers were picked and discarded in a manner where children did not have access.

Comments

At the inspection dated, June 11, 2019 there were 6 staff and 30 children present. At this inspection the above noted violations were identified and any action required by the Licensee and are included here. As part of this routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
