Introduction

A routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation: Four staff files were reviewed. Two staff were working in the program during the inspection and one of the staff did not have a copy of her certificate posted in the facility. LO discussed the importance of posting certificates for all qualified staff.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure certificates of educators are posted in a prominent place in the facility. CORRECTED during Inspection

STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Four staff files were reviewed and one staff did not have a CRC with the name of the facility on it. The staff confirmed that the CRC was renewed and was able to get a copy from the head office to be included in the file.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are complete including a CRC that is specific to the facility. CORRECTED during the inspection.

Summary of Inspection
On the inspection date of October 4th, 2021 there were 12 children and 2 staff present. The manager was not available for this inspection and the staff were able to support the Licensing Officer's (LO's) inquiries during the inspection. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and were corrected during the inspection.
