205 - Cold potentially hazardous food stored/displayed above 4 °C. [s. 14(2)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Noted the following items stored at room temperature: two containers of unlabelled cheese breads (one type appeared to have asparagus in it and the other had a full strip of bacon in it - note: the type with the full strip of bacon is not the same as the small pieces of dried bacon) and one basket of samosas. When inquired why these items were stored at room temperature one staff member said 'because we defied you'. The manager initially said they were under the impression the products were tested and where non perishable but found documentation later that did not support this evidence. This issue was noted last years inspection.
Corrective Action(s): All items discarded. Management is not able to communicate and implement safe food handling practices. Steamworks to submit a complete list of proposed food items including supplier information and how each item is stored in order to obtain health approval to add the foods as menu items. Reviewed inital health inspection report and the premises was only approved to provide snacks such as chips, munchies and pre-sliced pepperoni. These are the only approved items at this time until written approval is obtained from Fraser Health.
