Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR), and subsequent Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation: During inspection Licensing noted that an emergency evacuation drill has not been conducted by staff.

Licensing noted that an emergency drill had been preformed by the previous Licensee for this facility in August 2018.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff conduct a full evacuation drill, taking all evacuation supplies with them, at least once a year.

Comments

At the inspection dated Oct 01, 2019 there were 5 children and 2 staff present. At the inspection the above noted contravention was observed.
Licensee to conduct an emergency evacuation drill and submit written documentation to Licensing once this has been done.

During inspection Licensing observed children engaged in free play, have a piano theory lesson, and then go outside for free play.

During inspection Licensing observed staff interacting with children while they were engaged in activities.

As part of a Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy provided to the Licensee.
