Introduction

Community Care Facilities Licensing (CCFL) inspected all care categories during an unscheduled routine inspection to assess compliance w/:
• the Community Care & Assisted Living Act
• the Child Care Licensing Regulation
• relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practices

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The manager's name was not displayed.

LICENSING: 10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation: The manager's & another employee's certificate were not displayed.
Corrective Action(s): All ECE/ECEA certificates must be displayed.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: CCFL reviewed 12 children's files. 1 lacked a medical practitioner's contact info & another lacked an emergency contact.
Corrective Action(s): All requirements of s. 57(1) (Records for each child) are required by children's 1st day of care. If a child does not have a family doctor, their walk-in clinic or hospital can be documented. If a child lacks an emergency contact, please document so.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19320 - CCLR s.59(a) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation: Employees' records are kept @ SFUCS's main office.
Corrective Action(s): Employees' records, as referred to under CCLR s. 56(1)(b) (CCF records & policies), must be kept onsite (digital records are acceptable).
