HAZARD RATING FOR YOUR FACILITY: Moderate (16-29) Total Score = 18
Critical Hazards: There are no critical hazards.
Non-Critical Hazards: Total Number: 2
209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Boxes of fruits and vegetables that are bruised, damaged, wilted, etc. have been placed in the kitchen area to be trimmed and repackaged before selling. These five boxes of fruit/vegetables have numerous fruit flies in/on them.
Corrective Action(s): Make sure that only ONE box of trim is kept in the kitchen at any time and only while employees are working with the produce. All other boxes MUST be kept in a designated area in the walk-in cooler separate from all other produce.
If employees need to leave their work station for any reason both the finished/packaged trim and the produce still needing to be trimmed MUST be relocated to the walk-in until the employee returns to their work station.
Violation Score: 9

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Both fruit flies and the common house fly found in premises.
Corrective Action(s): ALL fruits and vegetables MUST be kept in the cooler until they will actually be trimmed (whether this trimming is to enhance new produce or remove damaged, bruised wilted portions of the produce that has previously been offered for sale).
DO NOT leave produce on/under the counter for several hours for flies to feed off, lay eggs on/in etc.
Make sure that damaged produce is kept separate from new produce.
Make sure that garbage cans have tight fitting lids, that are kept in place and that the garbage is removed frequently, whether the can is "full" or not.
Violation Score: 9
