Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Licensing reviewed the staff record. A current criminal record check from the RCMP was observed. A criminal record check completed with the criminal record review board is required. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CEKMZJ.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a criminal record check is completed with the criminal record review board.

Comments

At the inspection dated May 17, 2022 there were 5 children, and 1 staff and the Licensee was present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Please correct the above noted contraventions by June 2, 2022. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was sent to the Licensee.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
-The reportable incident reporting procedure. Forms provided
-The current COVID-19 protocols that are in place
-adding additional information to the Safe Release policy
