Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP).
Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

Nutrition

Child Records and reporting

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: Two staff files were reviewed and record of immunization status was missing for one staff and record of current Criminal Record Check (CRC) from the Criminal Records Review Program was missing for one staff. It is noted a record of a clear RCMP criminal record check is on file and this staff does not work alone with the children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all screening documentation is complete as per requirements prior to employment of staff.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:

At the inspection dated December 17, 2019 there were 5 children and 1 staff present. The manager arrived a short time later.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Action required by the Licensee includes providing a written response by January 3,2020.
Actions required by Licensing Officer includes reviewing the written response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education /discussions took place:

Exemption Requests
· Active Supervision- practices
· Potential of Lead in Drinking Water, filtered water is provided.
· Reportable Incident Reporting – ensure notification to Licensing within 24 hours, and
notifying Duty Licensing Officer.
· Care Plans to include date and signature of parents.

· Reportable Incident Bulletin
· Safety Alert- Active Supervision

At present there are no exemptions or temporary placements in place.

This report was not printed on site due to technology problem, but was reviewed with the Manager. Report and Risk Assessment were printed at the office and mailed .Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns; a business card was provided.
