Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION):
1) Found bags of dry lentils infested with Saw Toothed Grain beetles. Dry food rroducts shall be rotated and discarded when their best before date have exceeded, or if more than 12 moths have passed to prevent infestation of pests.
2) Found bags of croutons with a best before date of Sept. 9/16 on retail shelf. Products should be removed from sale, or discounted when the best before date is exceeded.
Corrective Action(s):
1) Immediately discard all infested bags of product, clean and sanitized the area to remove the pests. During the inspection, the staff completed this task.
2) Immediately remove the bags of croutons for sale and return to supplier, or discard. During the inspection, the staff completed this task.

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers were 3C or colder; freezers were -18C or colder; thermometers present; and no temp. recorded.
- Hand sink and staff washroom sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Food storage practices done correctly. Foods stored 6" off the floor on shelves; non-foods (cleaners, personal hygiene products, pet food, etc.) stored/displayed separately from food items.
- No expired, potentially hazardous foods were found for sale.
- General sanitation level is good. Ice machine, slurpee machine and coffee percolator were clean.
- No signs of pests. All doors and windows shall be kept closed at all times to prevent the entry of pests and dust.
- Premises is organized. Back areas could be decluttered as there are a few items being stored that do not relate or run the business.
