Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Noted blue wiping cloths stored in container with no sanitizer.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure wiping cloths are stored in sanitizer at all time, otherwise, use single use paper towel.

401 - Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
Observation: A) No soap available at 3 compartment sink.
B) No soap available at hand sink across food preparation table in back area. Also, hand sink in back preparation area was blocked with several boxes and equipment (ie. prep cooler lid). This hand sink also leaks when turned on.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all hand wash stations are fully equipped with soap, paper towel, hot and cold running water and are fully accessible and unobstructed at all times. This is a critical violation will be followed up with within 2 business days.

Observation: Noted several cardboard boxes in premises and food debris on the floor. Back premises area was very cluttered and disorganized.
Corrective Action(s): Remove cardboard boxes, organize and declutter premises and do a thorough cleaning of the floors in the front service area and back storage area.

308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation: Hand sink across food preparation table in the back was leaking when turned on.
Corrective Action(s): Repair hand sink so it does not leak when turned on.

Comments

This inspection report was completed off site and a copy emailed to the operator. The observations and infractions were reviewed with the staff member on duty at time of inspection:
Hand wash stations in the front service area and across the prep table in the back had soap, paper towel, hot and cold running water.
All coolers 4C or less (walk in, under counter, prep cooler..etc)
Walk in freezer -18C and undercounter freezer - 14C
Rice in hot holding unit 63C
Ice machine was empty and not in use at time of inspection. Ensure ice machine is emptied/cleaned/sanitized regularly (suggested to be done monthly) when in use and the scoop for the ice is to be stored outside of the ice in a separate container.
No obvious sign of pest activity noted at time of inspection.
Quat sanitizer 200ppm at source, in spray bottles and warewashing compartment of sink. Staff appear to be using single use paper towel to wipe.
Manual ware washing procedures reviewed at time of inspection – no concerns. Drain plugs available.
COVID safety protocols: mandatory masking signage posted at entrance, occupancy limit and physical distancing sign posted inside - recommend to post this information at entrance. Barrier in place at POS, sanitizer available for customers, 1 staff member on duty at time of inspection was wearing a mask, staff do not regularly document symptom check - recommend symptom check done by staff are recorded. Ensure appropriate disinfectant is used routinely on high touch non food contact surfaces.
