Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations

STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person. Observation: Licensing observed that there is no current criminal record check for the licensee, the previous one expired on January 17, 2024. The licensee applied for both criminal record checks and is waiting for them to come in. Corrective Action(s): The licensee applied for her criminal record check on January 29, 2024 and has not received it yet. Date to be Corrected:

On the inspection date of January 30, 2024 there were 3 children and the licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection report was completed off site and emailed to the facility the same day. Discussions took place regarding the following topics: Ensure daily attendance is recorded The following resources were provided: Licensing Officer’s Business Card Visit the CCFL website at www.fraserhealth.ca/childcare for additional resources, and links to the Legislation (CCALA and CCLR).
