Introduction

A scheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP). The following areas were inspected for compliance: physical facility, care and supervision, hygiene and communicable disease control, and records and reporting.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12180 - CCLR s.22(2)(a) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation: Licensing observed two fire extinguishers on site, however, both were required to be serviced in Febuary 2020.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire extinguishers are serviced annually. The Licensee purchased new fire extinguishers today, May 5, 2020 after Licensing left the facility, and provided Licensing with photos of receipts.

Comments

At this inspection dated May 5, 2020, there were 5 children, 1 staff and the Licensee present. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified.
The following was discussed with the licensee:
· Sanitizing and disinfecting
· Systems in place to ensure emergency supplies are updated and current
· Snack and mealtimes
· Updating staffing records

As part of the routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
The inspection report was written off-site – all details were reviewed with the Licensee prior to writing the report. A copy of the inspection report and risk assessment were e-mailed to the Licensee on May 5, 2020.
