Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed insufficient amount of food supplies for 72-hours in the facility's emergency preparedness kits.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure emergency plan sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: Licensing observed a care plan that did not show any evidence of being reviewed atleast once a year.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure care plans are reviewed with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent atleast once a year.

Comments

At this inspection there were 5 children, 1 staff and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to licensing by June 15, 2023 stating how you have addressed the above noted contraventions. Licensing will review the response.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following was discussed/reviewed with the staff:
- Developing a system for updating registration forms for continuing students
- Documenting reference checks
- Maintaining minor incident log
The contents of this report was reviewed with the manager and a copy will be emailed to the Manager.
