Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
MEDICATION: 16080 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,
Observation: Licensing observed that a child's medication was expired. The Manager advised that the parent would be bringing a replacement by the end of the day.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure non-expired medications.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Licensing is requesting a written response by May 5th advising on compliance.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following was discussed:

· Other ways to keep record of the early emergency plan (earthquake drills)
· Staff immunization records

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Manager and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
