Introduction

A routine inspection was conducted in the presence of the Manager/Executive Director and Director of Care to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (C.C.A.L.A.), the Residential Care Regulation (R.C.R.), and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (D.L.S.P.). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer's observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:

- Licensing

- Staffing
- Policies and Procedures
- Care and Supervision
- Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
- Medication
- Nutrition and Food Services
- Program
- Records and Reporting

As part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. The risk assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year historical review of the facility's compliance and operation.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31100 - RCR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that water accessible to a person in care, from any source, is not heated to more than 49° Celsius.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Hot water temperatures were randomly taken at ensuite washroom sinks throughout the home and all were noted to be higher than 49 degrees Celsius (Specifics given during inspection). The Manager will have the Maintenance Staff recheck the hot water temperatures and the Director of Care will let the writer know what the water temperature readings are. During the inspection the Maintenance Staff had lowered the hot water temperature.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all water accessible to a person in care, from any source, is not heated to more than 49 degrees Celsius.
Date to be Corrected: Please provide a written response to this item by February 1, 2019.

Overall the home appears very home like and appears to be very well maintained. The documentation overall appears to be thorough.

Nutrition education schedule:

* The writer will e-mail a sample nutrition education schedule to guide in developing one for the home. Nutrition in-services have occurred which was shown to the writer. Please review the nutrition education schedule the writer sends via e-mail and please let the writer know what the plan is moving forward regarding revising the one for Foyer Maillard.
