Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection to Routine Inspection # ONIR-CDDQ9Z was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP)

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: During the follow up inspection, it was noted that a staff file was missing evidence of their Criminal Record Check (CRC). This remains outstanding as per routine inspection on April 11, 2022, inspection # ONIR-CDDQ9Z. The manager stated that the CRC was completed; however, could not locate the document.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files contains all required documentation

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19160 - CCLR s.57(2)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation: During the follow up inspection, it was noted that a child's file was missing a photograph. This remains outstanding as per routine inspection on April 11th, 2022, inspection # ONIR-CDDQ9Z
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that children's files have required documentation prior to providing care

Comments

At today’s follow up inspection there were 6 children and 2 staff present. Upon arrival the licensee was off-site; however, returned during the early stages of the inspection.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified as outstanding as per inspection #ONIR-CDDQ9Z. The licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer by October 14, 2022.
The following was discussed with the licensee;
- Benefits of documenting children's behaviors
- Period of absence of employees and their replacements
The contents of the inspection report were reviewed with the licensee prior to the inspection report being written off-site; therefore, no signature attached. A copy of this report will be emailed to the facility on October 5, 2022.
