Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Review of 6 children's files observed 1 missing a medical insurance plan number.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to obtain and record a medical insurance plan number for each child.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Review of 6 children's files observed 1 missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to obtain and record a name and telephone number of a medical practitioner and an emergency contact.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 12, 2022 there were 17 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection and the risk assessment were written off site and a copy was emailed to the facility.


The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Medication storage.
- Emergency food, system to check and replenish.
- Obtaining emergency contact.
- Parents may provide a walk in clinic if a family doctor is not available.
- Digital photos are acceptable.
