Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the routine inspection three staff files were reviewed and one staff did not have references.
Corrective Action(s): While on site, the staff was able to get two references to add to the file.

STAFFING: 12210 - CCLR s.23(1)(a) - A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation: During the inspection licensing reviewed three staff files and two staff had an expired First Aid Certificate.
Corrective Action(s): Manager said that the staff will register to have their First Aid renewed.

Comments

At the inspection dated February 08, 2024 there were 23 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following conversation took place:
- during inspection measurements of the change rooms, loft and kitchen are were taken for the discussed amendment and increase in capacity.
- photo's of the facility were take and will be provided if need be.
