Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Washroom handwash station did not have single use paper towels.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure handwash stations are supplied with hot and cold running water, liquid hand soap, and single use paper towels to facilitate proper handwashing. Single use paper towels were replaced at the time of inspection.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Rodent droppings were observed in the facility. Facility is currently serviced by professional pest control services on a monthly basis.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure pest control operator inspects the facility for potential entry points for pests and seals them to prevent further pest issues. To prevent pest infestation ensure the following are implemented: seal any potential entry points for pests, store foods in pest proof containers, maintain the facility is a clean and sanitary condition, remove any standing water and remove garbage from the facility on a regular basis.

Observation: Rodent droppings were found in the facility.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure facility is cleaned daily and all areas affected with rodents droppings is cleaned and sanitized using a 1:10 bleach solution. Monitor for new activity and contact pest control services as needed.

Observation: Light fixture in the back area did not have a light shield.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure light fixtures are properly covered or lights are changed to shatter resistant bulbs in order to prevent potential glass contamination of foods.

Comments

-Facility does not cut any fruits or vegetables.
-Walk-in cooler was at 4C.
-Walk-in freezer was at -15C.
-Produce coolers were at 4C.
-Novelty freezer was at -18C.
-Cleaning and sanitizing carried out in the 3-compartment sink. Sink plugs and bleach available.
-Random selection of foods were in good condition and were within their best before dates.
-Food items were properly labelled.
-Facility has a monthly service contract for professional pest control services. Service report indicates contac bloc poison was placed outside the facility. Pest control operator also stated diatomaceous earth was placed around the walls to control for ants.
*Ensure bulk food area is monitored and scoops are stored in a sanitary condition and to prevent potential cross contamination.

COVID-19: Bulk food area had hand sanitizer available for use and signage posted reminding patrons to sanitize their hands prior to handling scoops.
