Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Residential Care Regulation (RCR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31290 - RCR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all rooms and common areas are (b) maintained in a good state of repair.
Observation: During inspection of the physical facility it was noted that:
- The exterior of the home has a tarp on the house roof and large amounts of moss growing on the carport roof
- The living room ceiling has holes from a previous lift system and water damages where the vapor barrier was damaged in the ceiling and water leaked through from the roof
- Baseboards in many rooms of the home are damaged and have missing paint
- The laminate floor in the living room and office has significant damage where the top layer is worn down to the fiberboard and is no longer able to be disinfected. some areas have lifted and could pose a tripping hazard
- There are missing light covers in the laundry area, main bathroom and the office area
- Many rooms in the house have damaged walls that have been patched but painting is still required
- The window ledge in the bathroom has lifting and flaking paint
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all rooms and common areas are maintained in a good state of repair
