Introduction

An unscheduled Routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed:
-Storage items located in the nap space dedicated for children under 36 months including a vacuum located next to a play pen.
-Storage of art supplies stacked on and around the kitchen counter preventing sanitization, and potentially falling off the shelf onto a child below.
-Storage of a mop, two potty chairs, and two milk jugs in the bathroom tub accessible to children. A toilet cleaning brush in a grocery bag, and some cloths for cleaning the bathroom were located beside the toilet accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 8 children's files, four files did not contain record of immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep, for each child, a record showing immunization status.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, licensing was joined by 4 children, and the licensee.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
Documentation of when children arrive and depart the center.
Cleaning and sanitization practices for the prevention of communicable diseases.
Immunization declaration forms to include COVID 19.
