Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19240 - CCLR s.58(1)(c)(ii) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (c) the resources to be made available to the child requiring extra support by the licensee, including (ii) any modification to the program of activities necessary to enable the child to participate in or benefit from the program.
Observation: There is a child who requires a care plan, Licensee is aware of the child's requirement for care plan and initial steps have been taken to have a care plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure care plan is in place that is written in consultation with the parent, the care plan to include any relevant diagnosis, intervention/strategies to support the child.

Comments

Licensee contact/manager understood that providing resources to parents for Active Play and Screen Use was sufficient, which has been done, but did not believe Policies needed to be developed. Policies to be developed and forwarded to Licensing. During today's inspection discussed some components to be included in the Policies.
Licensee contact/manager utilized the FH CCFL checklist (monthly) to ensure self monitoring is conducted, Licensing further discussed that outdoor log of inspection, be conducted each day the outdoor space is used.
At the time of inspection, children were engaged in free play, circle time, fine motor activities, the circle and fine motor activities were appropriate in the length of time and provided active engagement by the children.
Season theme is displayed at the facility.
Licensing reviewed flushing lead out of the water, Active Supervision and Reporting Incidents.
