Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and observed that although the CRC for one staff was not expired, it was not referenced to this facility. The Manager advised that the sharing process has been initiated.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure compliance with section 19 (1)(a).
Date to be Corrected: Advise once CRC received

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 12 children's files and observed that record of start dates were missing from 4 registration forms.
Corrective Action(s): Please capture the date of enrolment for each child.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: There was no record to accurately reflect which program children attended when the programs combined.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the attendance records are accurate.

At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.

Licensing provided a date for addressing the contraventions and is requesting a written response by April 11, 2022 advising on compliance.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Manager and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
