Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standard of Practice (DOLSOP). All eight care categories were assessed for compliance.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Licensing observed that one out of the two staff files inspected did not contain a site specific criminal record check. A clarifying conversation with that staff indicated that a site specific CRC has been applied for. A valid CRC from a college is on file for this employee.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all staff files are complete.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Licensing observed that the 2 staff files inspected did not contain evidence of immunization status declaration.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are complete.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated April 18, 2023, there were 4 children in care with one educator.
At the inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.
Please provide Licensing with a written response, by the date noted below, stating how the identified contraventions will be addressed in order to ensure year round compliance.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. A copy of the report and the corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Manager.
The following items were discussed:
Making logbook entries in a manner which maintain the integrity of the record.
