Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During the inspection licensing observed:
-Child locks were disengaged for the kitchen and the bathroom, however, the licensee re-engaged them during inspection.
-Bucket on table contained a bottle of alcohol near where children were playing, which was moved by licensee at the time of inspection.
-Boxes containing home decor items, including; light fixture and blinds were accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation: The licensee was providing care to two family members, however, they had no records on file. Licensee stated she was not aware that the children would require a file. Licensing stated that all children 12 year and under, in care of the Licensee would require a file, including family members.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep current records for each child showing all information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreement set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Of 4 files reviewed, one file was missing record of the start date.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep for each child, a record showing the date of enrolment.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 4 children, and the facility manger/licensee present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a written corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
Discussed the nap space. The room should be clear of items and for the use of nap, when needed.
Licensing reviewed the practice for water table use with licensee.
Discussed the repayment agreement
