Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation: LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: - Outdoor space: large piece landscape tarp was exposed posing tripping hazard Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times Date to be Corrected: Jan 22, 2024

Comments

At this inspection dated January 15, 2024 there were 7 children and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring facility into compliance. The content of this report was reviewed with the Manager and a copy was provided. A walk through of the home was completed at today's inspection. LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager onsite: - Nap time supervision - First Aid Kit - Emergency supplies - Areas designated for family use only, i.e. upstairs - Programming (Schedule G) - Child's Photos - Cleaning/ Sanitizing procedure - Diaper changing mat storage Licensing was joined by a JIBC student for purpose of training.
