Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted as a follow up to routine inspection #LPEN-BPCSPK to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP). All areas not reviewed during the last routine inspection were inspected for compliance. A COVID-19 risk screening assessment was completed for the facility prior to this inspection.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and noted one was missing immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: Upon review of a care plan the licensee advised changes were to be made, however the changes were not updated on the care plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure care plans are updated and current.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this inspection, a COVID-19 Prevention Audit Tool was completed.

The Licensee is to correct the contraventions by the dates indicated, and provide a written response to licensing.

The inspection report was written off-site due to COVID-19 protocol – all details were reviewed with the Licensee prior to writing the report. A copy of the inspection report and COVID-19 Prevention Audit Tool will be e-mailed to the Licensee.
