Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Thumb tacks were used on walls accessible to children in care. Licensee removed them during inspection.
Blind cords were hanging accessible to children in care, posing choking risk. Licensee moved them during inspection,
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: The licensee immunization records, and references were stored in another area of the facility and were unavailable for review during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep current employee records

Summary of Inspection:
· During today’s inspection, there were 4 children, and the manager present.
· At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
