209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation: 1) Opened can of tomato paste observed in cooler. Operator had transferred the food to food grade container at this time.
2) Two dirty knives observed in a metal cup. Operator had advised the knives were used to spread peanut butter only and washed on a daily basis. Operator was advised to have them washed/sanitized at this time.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all opened can foods are transferred to food grade containers to prevent chemicals leaching into food.

Comments

Routine inspection conducted:

-Handwash stations adequately supplied with liquid soap, paper towels and hot/cold running water.
-Coolers operating at or under 4'C; Freezers operating at or under -18'C.
-Thermometers available in each unit for temperature monitoring.
-100-200ppm chlorine available in buckets for wiping cloths and a shallow bin for 'create your own sandwich' menu.
-High temperature dishwasher achieved 75'C at the plate level after final rinse.
-Deli meat slicer used x1/week for now (i.e. cooked deli meat and cheese only)
-General food storage practice satisfactory.
-Coffee stirrers and ice machine scoop stored in proper manner.
-No evidence of pest activity observed at this time. Storage room satisfactory.
-Washroom handsink satisfactory.

**Facility had removed most stools and tables. Only 4 stools are available for use. Plexi glass installed between staff and customers.
**Sandwich menus and markers being disinfected after each use.

General sanitation of the facility satisfactory at this time. Inspection report to be emailed to the owner.
