CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: Licensing observed a staff schedule in Daycare 2 program. Staff in the program stated that about 2-3 weeks ago a responsible adult qualified staff began opening the program and the second staff would arrive about 30 minutes later who was ECEA qualified. The ECE staff would arrive within 45 minutes after the second staff. A discussion was had with the Manager and she stated that the staff will use the schedule submitted in the application for exemption. The Manager has verbally told the staff and written it in the communication book.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that staff are scheduled as per schedule E.

MEDICATION: 16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation: 1 child had 2 care plan's for a life threatening condition. Staff were unaware which care plan was current. The information reviewed contained 2 different amounts of medication to administer to the child.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the care plan and administer medication form are completed with the current amount specified to give to the child.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: 1 care plan reviewed did not contain course of action by the care provider to explain when the medication should be administered.
Corrective Action(s): Please keep the course of action recommend including the signs and symptoms of the allergy when the care provider will administer the medication.
