Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were 21 children, and 4 staff present today.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
The following was discussed:
Storage practice for inaccessible items were reviewed. Staff asked about drawer latch systems. It was discussed that because the preschool program is shared with the school age, storage of items that may be a choking hazard for young children, should be locked or made inaccessible once preschool recommences in the fall.
Outdoor play was discussed, staff stated the children use the outdoor space in shifts, however, there were School Age and Group 3-5 playing in the outdoor space together. Licensing stated that moving forward children will need to use the playground with a shared space plan, or an amendment can be presented for the use of the the gated outer area. Licensing identified that the garbage bins should be made inaccessible, and bollards or cement barriers at the gate, would need to be addressed prior to licensing the additional space.
