Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Licensing reviewed emergency drills and noted one was not recorded for 2020. The Licensee said an emergency drill was completed, however it was not documented.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure emergency drills are practiced at least once each year and documented.

Comments

At this inspection, there were no children, and the Licensee present. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified.
The following was discussed with the Licensee:
· Emergency management
· COVID-19 prevention strategies
· Policies and procedures
· Staff to child ratio

As part of the routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The inspection report was written off-site due to COVID-19 protocol – all details were reviewed with the Licensee prior to writing the report. A copy of the inspection report and risk assessment will be e-mailed to the Licensee.
