Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, there were a pair of teacher scissors left out in the children's washroom, accessible to the children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, two children were standing on a large kitchen set, trying to look out the window.Staff was approximately 3 feet away and did not notice.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children are being supervised at all times.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated February 4, 2020 there were 13 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.
