Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed: Licensing; Physical Facility; Staffing; Polices & Procedures; Care & Supervision; Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control; Medication; Nutrition and Food Services; Program; Records and Reporting
As part of the Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Licensing discussed Live 5210 resources with manager and left Live 5210 resource packages with them for 2 daycares.
Inspection report was reviewed with manager before report was signed and printed.
Licensing would like to thank the staff and children of Aubrey Daycare Centre for their time and assistance during today’s inspection.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

During inspection Licensing observed the following activities which are accessible to children in the outside area: basketball; ride on toys; climbers; sandbox; easel; dramatic play areas.

During inspection Licensing observed children engaged in the following activities inside: napping; building with Duplo; working with cars & fine motor activities; playing with balls where the experimented with balls going through tunnels/ down slides etc; creating art with glue and cotton balls.

During inspection Licensing observed examples of child directed art on display.

Licensing observed a staff person invite a child to the art table - the child dropped the toy they were holding, quickly went to the table, sat down, chose their paper colour & started gluing.

Licensing observed staff a children's level while engaged in activities with them or while assisting them with problem solving.
