Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: During the inspection of the physical facility it was observed that in one classroom the hot water temperature measures 54 degrees Celsius and one classroom measure 53.5 degrees Celsius. Manager stated that a new hot water tank was recently installed. This is a repeat contravention from 2019.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the hot water is not heated to more that 49 degrees Celsius.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: During the inspection 6 random children's files were reviewed. The following were observed:
- one child's file was missing evidence of gender
- 2 children's files were missing a record of immunization
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are completed.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: During the inspection 6 random children's files were reviewed. One child was missing a date of enrollment.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

Comments

At the inspection dated February 22, 2022 there were 25 children, 6 staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

· Registration forms
· Active Supervision
· Staff files

· Care Plan Bulletin via mail
