Observation: Faucet at the handsink in the meat department requires to be affixed as it is loose and is not securely in place. Note: Hot and cold running water is accessible at this handsink.
Corrective Action(s): Affix the faucet so that is securely in place; Correct within 1 week. Contact the area E.H.O. for a follow up inspection.

311 - Premises not maintained as per approved plans [s. 6(1)(b)]
Observation: Light bulb inside the produce walk-in-cooler near the entrance cooler door lacked a shatterproof cover.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all light bulbs in food storage areas are encased in shatterproof covers; Correct within 1 month.

315 - Refrigeration units and hot holding equipment lack accurate thermometers [s. 19(2)]
Observation: 1. Thermometers were not available inside the meat walk-in-cooler and meat display cooler inside the meat department. Staff member was however checking surface temperatures with an IR gun.
2. A thermometer inside the meat display cooler in the grocery section had a thermometer that was not in good working order. This thermometer was shown to Management.

Corrective Action(s): Ensure all of the above noted refrigeration units are equipped with an accurate and working thermometers to monitor their ambient temperatures. Remove the broken thermometer from the cooler.

Comments

Grocery Store:
-Coolers were at or below 4 degrees C.
-Freezers were at or below -18 degrees C.
-Food storage areas were clean.
Note: Management was unable to comment on how to dismantle and clean the interior of the faucet/tap of the kombucha self-serve unit. It was mentioned that the supplier provides the canisters, tubes, and cleans the inside of this unit. The corporate sanitation plan will be reviewed regarding the kombucha self-serve unit.

Back store area:
-Walk-in-cooler for dairy and walk-in-cooler for produce were at or below 4 degrees C.
-Walk-in-freezer was at or below -18 degrees C.
-200 ppm QUATS sanitizer was available in the spray bottle.

Meat Department:
Display cooler and walk-in-cooler were at or below 4 degrees C.
Handsink was supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and paper towels.
200 ppm QUATS sanitizer was available from the dispenser and spray bottle.
An IR gun was available.
Labels for mechanically tenderized meat were available.
Food contact surfaces were maintained in a clean condition.
No signs of recent pest activity were observed at the time of inspection.
