Introduction

An unscheduled routine was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer’s observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:
· Licensing
· Physical Facility
· Staffing
· Policies and Procedures
· Care and Supervision
· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services
· Program
· Records and Reporting

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that there were storage bins stored high on a shelf in the washroom. The bins were over lapping the shelf which poses a risk of falling and causing injury. The manager moved the bins to a safer location during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a safe and healthy environment is provided at all times.
Date to be Corrected: 7 June 2016

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 3 current care plans and it was found that 1 was reviewed and signed with the parent in 2014. Manager stated that she will review with parents as soon as possible.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that care plans are reviewed and signed by a parent each year and any changes recorded including any changes in where the emergency medication is stored and if the medication is self administered.
Date to be Corrected: 15 June 2016
