Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Bleach sanitizer was too strong and resulted in the test strip bleaching out.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure bleach is maintained between 100ppm to 200ppm. Concentrations in excess of 200ppm may be toxic for human health. Bleach was diluted to 200ppm at the time of inspection. To prepare 100ppm to 200ppm bleach, add 1/2 teaspoon of bleach per litre of water.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Rodent droppings were observed in the facility. Facility is currently serviced by professional pest control services on a monthly basis.
Corrective Action(s): Facility must be maintained in a pest-free condition. Clean and sanitize areas affected by rodent droppings on a daily basis and implement pest control strategies. To prevent infestation ensure the following are carried out: seal potential entry points, remove vegetation from entrances, store foods off the ground and in pest-proof containers, remove waste from the facility on a regular basis, maintain the facility in a clean and sanitary condition, and remove any standing water.

Observation: Bleach sanitizer spray bottle was not labelled.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all chemicals are properly labelled to identify the contents in order to prevent accidental mixing and/or misuse of chemicals. Containers need to be relabelled when they fade/wear off.

Comments

-Large walk-in cooler was at 4C. Smaller compartment walk-in cooler was at 8C - not used for the storage of potentially hazardous foods.
-Novelty freezer was at -20C.
-Upright freezer was at -18C.
-Soft serve machine not in use at the time of inspection.l
-Handwash station supplied with hot and cold running water, liquid hand soap, and single use paper towels.
-Random selection of foods were in good condition and within their best before dates. Dairy products past the best before dates moved to the back of the cooler.
-Foods stored off the ground and protected from potential contamination.
