Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing observed several areas of exposed gyprock accessible to children. The Manager explained she is aware of this and has a maintenance plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within are clean and in good repair.

Comments

At the inspection dated May 1, 2023 there were 33 children 12 staff present, and The Manager. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee/Manager to provide Licensing with a written response with actions taken to bring facility into compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
The following was discussed:
· Napping equipment in infant program
· Procedures for safety checks for the outdoor play area
· Follow up with city
